Performing with my band "Steel Guapo" at the world famous Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Syracuse, NY

Hi, I’m Michael Thomas

Since I’ve started freelancing in 2006 with my first custom built PC and a BIG passion for the arts & tech world, I have been intentionally honing my skills and seeking out diverse experiences to qualify myself as a Multimedia Designer.

I’ve spent the last 10+ years as the graphic designer/ art director (heavy on the graphic designer) with 2 of the most prominent custom apparel companies Central New York has to offer.  With in-house screen printing and embroidery at the forefront, I was able to get literally “hands on” with my artwork. I’ve mastered vector artwork creation for print and embroidery while also excelling in bitmap art creations.  Color separations and film output have become second nature to me while simultaneously achieving major success in halftone printing (gradients but with dots) and color theory all while utilizing the PANTONE® Matching System to be sure that I am on brand with every design.  Being ASI (Advertising Specialty Institute) members, I’ve had the opportunity to design, submit and create product renders for just about any promotional item you could imagine as well.  Mugs, water bottles, USB sticks, ear buds, stress balls, pens, notebooks, YOU NAME IT!

Early on I found that my passion for music has led me to all sorts of fun and creative experiences.  Running social media pages, photography and videography sent me right down a path of motion graphics and Visual Effects!  I dove right in.  I found a young gentleman by the name of Andrew Kramer online who gave away free tutorials and Adobe After Effects plug-ins.  I was addicted.  After doing just about all of his tutorials I began to find my own style with video graphics.  When 3D programs entered my peripheral vision it was game over.  Blender 3D, Cinema 4D and even 3DS Max became another tool in which I was able to create art!

Within my position of Art Director I have mastered more than just graphics and CAD software.  Data entry & analytics, client relationship management  systems, email campaigns, software and network management too.  I’ve learned to manage people as well as my friendships and work/life relationships.  My own personal CORE Values are that of the warriors code. Honor, discipline and integrity sums it up nicely.  When it comes to my art it breaks down like this: I HONOR the history of print and digital art which helps keep quality to a maximum.
